TERRIFIER!

This 2016 homage to 80’s slasher films will have fans of the genre cheering on Art the Clown through his disturbing rampage on All Hallow’s Eve. Neither the likes of Pennywise nor Captain Spaulding can quite encapsulate the maniacal tendencies of this clown. Art is in a league of his own.

There are several elements of Terrifier that make it such a great tribute to films such as Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street. There is a certain grittiness that the film captures in its setting that is reminiscent of C.H.U.D.. The musical score has that undeniably John Carpenter edginess to it. The kills are unique and inspired. The goriness is palpable. And the villain will scare the shit out of you.

I am so glad that I found this slasher gem among the horror selections on Netflix. Often I am disappointed in what passes for horror these days. It is apparent that the filmmaker of Terrifier must have felt the same way and decided to bring back what made the genre great. What an apt title for what fans have been craving for so long.
